2025 June 8th PENTECOST
Very quick summary. Patrick waited on God at the end of his message and challenged us to be willing to break out of our comfortable religious practices and humble ourselves and let God do what He wants with us. We sat in various states of silence (some stunned) by the presence of God. Simple message but stirring. The prayer time before Church included heartfelt cries for a Sovereign move of God to break us and wake us up out of our slumber…….. Some people came forward for prayer and were surrounded by an anointed and called team of prayer warriors. Even Rose rushed to the front with her Zimmer frame to be part of the intercession team (never seen her move so fast!)
Patrick’s message about PENTECOST: The disciples were all In one accord in one place.
Jesus had made wonderful promises to His disciples. As He ascended into heaven, Jesus told them to wait in Jerusalem until they were filled with the Holy Spirit and receive power to be His witnesses (my comment, the word means martyrs)
The disciples were doing what they were told, waiting and praying together in one place and in agreement.. expecting God to honour His promise. What are we hoping for, longing for and expecting. Are we willing for God to be Sovereign and upset our theology and routine religious practices?
Things happened to the apostles which had never happened before. There were veiled references in Joel mixed with messages in the end times. God was filling them with His Spirit in a new way. People today want to catch the fire from someone else but we don’t need to travel across the world to receive the fire because God is HERE right NOW.
Joel 2:28-31. Peter explained what was happening at Pentecost with this Scripture.
Acts 2:36-38 Three thousand people got baptised. All of the people who were filled with the Spirit were baptising. We are called to serve. We tend to seek the experience but we need to seek the giver. James 4:7-8; Acts 3:38. Gods gift is His Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8
The purpose of the Power is Proclamation. You cannot manufacture the touch of God. Change is a difficult thing and we need to be willing to break out of our “box”.
